Week 29: OREO Opinion Writing

This month in Writer's Workshop, the first graders are learning how to write an opinion and then support their opinion by stating reasons and examples.

A double stuffed oreo was our tool to learn how to write a great opinion letter.

After we practiced writing a few OREO opinion letters to Mrs. Cady and our parents, we decided to write a letter to our principal asking him for new playground equipment.

The children had four choices:

Mobious Climber
Rotating Dish
Airplane Teeter Totter

Ten Spin

The children wrote awesome opinion letters to Mr. Cook asking for a new piece of playground equipment!

On Friday, we asked Mr. Cook to visit our classroom and we read some of our opinion letters to Mr. Cook.  He was very impressed!

To celebrate, we enjoyed yummy double stuffed Oreos on the playground!
