Holiday Fun in Room 1-C

Merry Chirstmas Everyone!

Thank you Mrs. Hess!

  We had a fun-filled week in room 1-C!  Lots of concerts, visitors, and holiday inspired activities were on our daily schedule.  We ended the week with Mrs. Cady losing her voice, Mrs. Hess reading us a holiday story, and a great Christmas party organized by Mrs. Stadler and some awesome parent helpers.
         
A Holiday Reading Log was sent home for "homework" over the holiday break.  Any time your child reads over the break, color in a Christmas Tree!  Return the reading log on January 2nd when we return to school!

Picture Perfect Weather Pictures

We are learning about weather in Science.  Last week, we learned about the 4 Seasons and the different changes that occur. 
The children drew beautiful pictures of winter and holiday scenes as one of their activities.  I sent their drawings into Channel 24 WJET.  This news channel has a segment in the morning called Picture Perfect Weather Pictures. 

Keep an eye out for your child's picture or one of their classmates!
They broadcast two pictures during the 6:00 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. broadcast.  But if you miss them, you can always check out the pictures online.

My little turkeys!

                 
We performed a reader's theater yesterday called:  Five Little Turkeys! By reading this simple reader's theater, the students gained valuable fluency skills....while having fun!  I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday!  Stay warm and safe!

Doubles Facts

       

We are learning our doubles facts!  These math facts help us with more difficult addition facts!  Every morning we give the Busy Bee a DOUBLES FACT CHALLENGE!  We ask them doubles facts until they get one wrong!  You can practice at home too!! 

Word Surgery!

       
This week, we performed surgery on words! 
We learned about contractions! 
The students performed surgery by cutting off a letter or letters and replacing the letters with an apostrophe band-aid. 

Happy Halloween!

We had our Halloween Party on Thursday!  The parade was super fun and all of the kids' costumes looked great!  We were able to parade around the block because it wasn't rainy, and then we came inside and had some yummy treats and played fun Halloween games!

A big thanks to Nykeem's mom for organzing our Halloween Party!  All of the kids had a blast!

On Friday, the kids earned a popcorn party for Good Behavior.  Mr. Cady and
Lily delivered the popcorn to our classroom! Everyone loved seeing Lily!!

What a great week!             

Project Be-Fit

This week, we celebrated Red Ribbon Week!  We also had 6 high school girls from the Wellsville progam visit our classroom and teach us all about healthy habits and being a good friend!  The kids enjoyed this event and learned alot! 

 

 

Morning Message

Our Morning Message is a helpful tool that builds fluency and reading skills for all students!

Every morning during our morning meeting, we read the Morning Message.  We read the same message every day for an entire week.  The students build their fluency skills by rereading the message every day.     

After we choral read the message, the students look for words in the message!  This week we looked for punctuation marks, capital letters, 3 or more syllable words, and no-excuse words. 

On Friday, after we complete our Morning Message activity, we raffle off the chart paper to a lucky winner!   This week it went home with Mariska!
