All About: Springtime and Easter Fun!

We had a blast on the last day of school before spring break!  Thank you to all of the families who helped out and volunteered to do a craft, read a book, or play a game with the children.  It was a great day of fun and laughter!  Check out some of the pictures from the day!

All About: Rights and Responsibilities

In social studies, we discussed our rights and responsibilities.  We learned that we are free to do lots of things like; play, go to school, have fun, make friends....but we also have lots of responsibilities as well, such as; being able to listen to others, share, be nice, and clean up.

All About: Goodbye to Miss Keith and Retelling a Story!

This week we said good-bye to Miss Keith!  She was an amazing student teacher and we were so lucky to have her in our classroom for a short period of time.  We wish her the best in her future and hope to see her again.  She is off to her next teaching placement!

We also learned how to retell a fictional story by using a visual with the words:  somebody, wanted, but, so.  Try using these words with your children at home after reading a story!

All About: Scholastic News and Bingo for Books!

We got a lot of work done this week, despite the unplanned day off on Friday.  I hope everyone stayed safe and warm on Friday and enjoyed the extended weekend.

Last week was "Read Across America Week."  It was a great week where we did some special activities, but in first grade, everyday is a reading day!  One of the ways we like to learn non-fiction information is by reading our Scholastic News magazines.  These magazines teach us so much wonderful information and then we get to answer questions and complete activities based on the information we learned in the magazine.  Here are a couple of Scholastic News magazines we read this past week.

Thursday night was Bingo For Books!  Thank you to everyone who came out during the yucky weather and played bingo!  It was a wonderful night!
