Week 5: Brainbreaks!

We do two brain breaks every day!

There is an amazing site called, gonoodle.com that has all different kinds of brain breaks!

In the morning, we do a stretching brain break to get our bodies and minds ready for the day!

Week 4: Sentence People

We are learning that a simple sentence must have four things:  Capital letter, Punctuation, a Noun, and a Verb.  We made sentence people this week to remember those four important things that a simple sentence must have!

Week 3: Flashlight Friday and More....

We had a great week!

We earned our first "Spotless" behavior class reward.  The children had lunch in the classroom on Wednesday for working very hard to be well behaved at school as a whole class!  I am so proud of all of them for earning it so early on in the school year!

We also earned our first "Yippee" certificate for returning all of our library books!!  Please remember to have your child pack their library book the night before a Day 3!  (You can always look at the calendar that is found on the back of your child's BEE book to check the specials.)

Finally, we ended our week with Flashlight Friday Fun Reading.  The children read their books with the flashlights and a "reading buddy"  and searched for high-frequency words and nouns!

Week 2: We are Bucket Fillers!

All week we have discussed being a bucket filler in the classroom and at home.  We talked about how important it is to be nice to others and say kind things.  We also discussed how a person feels when their bucket is dipped and also how happy it makes someone when you fill their bucket with loving, kind words.

To show the children a visual of this important life skill, we made buckets and put slips of paper inside the bucket that named a 'bucket filler' character trait. 

We all want to be Bucket Fillers in first grade.....

Week 1: Welcome Back!

We had a great first week back to school!  

It started off a little messy.....but super fun!
 

 

 

We learned about how we should treat others and be respectful and kind!

 

 
 
 We made Busy Bees for our bulletin board!
 

 

And we played lots of fun learning games.  This one was an ABC relay race!

 

 

 

 

It's going to be a super fun year in first grade!!
