Week 20: Happy 100th Day of School!

Wow!  I can't believe we celebrated the 100th day of school on Friday!  The kids entered the room with excitement and joy!  Here is to another 80 days of learning in first grade!

Week 19: 1-A's Big Words

This week, we read about Martin Luther King Jr. and his big words he used and demonstrated in his lifetime. 

We were so inspired by MLK Jr. and his positive actions, that we brainstormed a list of our own 'big words.'  These words have tremendous meaning in our lives and we try to follow and use these words everyday in our classroom!

 

 

Week 18: Our Solar System

This week we learned about our solar system!
We learned the planets in order!  (We included Pluto--we discussed how it is a dwarf planet.)

We sang songs, read books, and learned lots of important information about our solar system.  Did you know that our solar system has 300 moons!

Week 17: Place Value

We had a great week back at school after a wonderful and relaxing holiday break!

In math, we are learning about place value.  The kids were able to make different double digit numbers with tens and ones manipulatives.  We also played a game called Race to 50 in small groups through out the week.
